Suzie Newman, LPC, ATR-P

"I create a hopeful space free of judgment where I accompany clients in identifying and working towards their goals. My clients describe me as warm, relatable, accepting, and knowledgeable. Many of my clients work with me to improve their relationship with their bodies, encompassing aspects related to the body such as eating disorders, body image, identity, chronic pain, trauma, anxiety, pregnancy, etc.

I work from a Health at Every Size (HAES) framework and honor how your ability, age, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status intersect with one another and impact you. I hold space for you to understand how your past has affected you, and give you tools to break free from ways of thinking and being that are keeping you from your potential. I am an affirmative practitioner for clients who identify as LGBTQ+.

With a dual degree in Counseling and Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, I am trained as both a talk therapist and an art therapist.  Clients may choose to work with me using traditional talk therapy or art therapy- or a combination of both.  Art therapy often offers tools to unlock areas and create a movement where clients feel stuck.

My hope for each client is for them to develop a greater sense of peace and wellness of mind and body, gaining the skills to sustain them in living and being well."
